Sometimes it is good to STOP and PONDER!

So this morning while reading one of those unassuming emails that filter their way into our worlds on a daily basis I was struck by the final words of the writers.

As they discussed the "righteousness" of Joseph... Mary's husband... and Jesus' earthly father... they asked...

"If someone was writing your story, how would you like to be portrayed? What actions or behaviors do you need to change to make that a reality?"

Hmmmm.... my response simply was to... SWALLOW HARD!

REALLY... this is a very challenging set of questions because my week has been incredibly stress filled and within those moments I know that I have not always responded appropriately... or at the very least the way I would personally like to respond to the inevitable challenges of life!

You know... for the most part life is often so busy and hectic that the average person rarely reflects on their life... their journey... and the direction they are heading in along the way!

However... a little self-reflection... a little time to STOP and PONDER... is a very good thing!

A dear friend and mentor of mine for over 10 years who went to be with God recently used to say to me...

"Most people in life have little self-awareness... and because of that they are dangerous to the relationships in their lives... and some are so self-aware that they are just as dangerous!"

In other words... most of us need to be more aware WHERE we are in life's journey and WHO we're BECOMING along the way... but we shouldn't get narcissistic about it!

As we near the end of another year... and we head towards a new one... maybe it might be a good time to take a moment and PONDER the simple questions above. Your responses could be the difference between the same old... or a new beginning in 2012!

Blessings and Merry Christmas to all...
