“Inexperienced people die because they reject wisdom. Stupid people are destroyed by their own lack of concern. 33 But whoever listens to me will have security. He will be safe, with no reason to be afraid.” ~Proverbs 1:32-33 GNT
This is a challenging little section in the opening address of the book of Wisdom…the Old Testament book of Proverbs collected and authored during the life of one of the wisest people to roam this earth… King Solomon… David’s son!
You see... in these verses the author gives us some straight talk for living life and that is that it is important to pursue God’s wisdom in order to live the kind of life that God desires for each and every one of us in this thing called the journey of life and faith. Solomon reminds us that people who seek the wisdom that God provides for living this journey will have security in that they will be able to live out God’s plans and purposes for their lives. They won’t have to worry about looking over their shoulders wondering IF their past is ever going to catch up with their present because as we live in God’s light we are safe, and secure, and have no reason to be afraid along the way!
You know... in this proverb… the author reminds us that we can choose to live in God’s wisdom OR we can choose to live in rebellious independence which many of us both inside and outside the church walls do each day! However, IF we choose to live independently from the ONE who desires to lead… guide… and direct our lives…then the consequences in this proverb are pretty clear… fear… insecurity… and ultimately death… destruction… and separation from God occurs!
Now... the ultimate challenge in this section of Solomon’s opening chapter is pretty simple and that is even when God’s wisdom seems difficult or challenging… it is still ultimately the best path for our lives… because God’s wisdom always keeps us from greater pain and heartache in the long haul as we make our way through this gift called LIFE!
Seeking wisdom for the journey from the WORD of God and His people…
